• The Joint United Nations Information Committee (JUNIC), on the verge of being axed due to reform proposals, was salvaged at the last minute, and will meet in Europe in early July. One key item on the agenda: how to keep JUNIC alive.

• A $100 million contribution is expected from Bill and Melinda Gates in support of the UN special campaign against HIV/AIDS. An announcement will be made before July.
