Popular protest in Sudan against ousted General Bashir drew international media attention when a young woman, Alaa Salah, climbed on the top of a car to prompt popular
participation yelling "Thawra" which means Revolution.
Her photo appeared all over the news, prompting other Sudanese to call her Kandaka, which was a title given to Nubian Queens when they effectively and efficiently ruled the area
with the human touch. Ms. Salah is an engineering and architecture student at Sudan International University.
