Two senior posts with the rank of Under-Secretary-General will have
to be filled soon. One as head of the Disarmament Department and the
other to head the Economic and Social Development Department to replace
Nitin Desai who will be returning to India.

One country from Asia is missing in the new composition of the Economic
and Social Council. All regions agreed on their full share of
representation on Tuesday 29 April except that one Asian seat.

A post of a director of Information Centre in Yemen was advertised, inviting
even those outside the U.N. to apply. The post is vacant since five years
and was activated by the new Yemeni ambassador.
