• A report by U.N. investigator Detlev Mahlis on the assassination of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafic Harira is scheduled for 21 October. Lebanese politics is at a virtual standstill awaiting its revelations.

• U.N. Day, 24 October, will be celebrated by a special philharmonic orchestra from Sweden -- on the occasion of the 100th birthday of former Swedish Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold.

• The Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions will have to elect a new chairman after the sudden resignation of Mr. Kusnetsov, accused of financial wrongdoings.
