15 September 2007
-
Heads of state and governments will be descending on Manhattan for the
General Assembly debate, starting Tuesday 25 September when the Presidents of the U.S. and France (as well as
oil rich Qatar and Kazakhstan) will speak that morning. Expect traffic delays. Expect scrutiny from 2nd and 1st
Avenues between 42nd and 47th Streets. Enjoy.

An obvious media opportunity for the new President of France
Nicolas Sarkozy. His country chairs the Security Council for September and he will certainly make a point of
chairing a meeting or two "pour la forme."
-
New General Assembly President from the Former Yugoslav Republic of
Macedonia has assembled his new team, mostly from the old one. His main difficulty will be in the contested name
of his own country, particularly by Greece.
