• The Secretary General will assemble a group of internationally prominent personalities to advise on the world's priorities in the coming five years of his mandate. It will be interesting to follow the group's composition, and observe whether they meet just once, or convene regular sessions.

• Davos moves to New York this year. At the end of January, it will be apparent whether those who left North America to spend a few days of seminars and dinners in the secluded Swiss resort will stick to their hotel, or even attend.

• The UN Correspondents Association will elect a new president.
